Launching of San Cristóbal de La Habana Harimau Malaya in Malaysia

San Cristóbal de La Habana, a brand created in 1999 by [tippy title="Habanos S.A., Corporación"]The Havana-based company, jointly owned by the Cuban industry and the British Imperial Tobacco Group, which markets all 27 Habanos brands worldwide.[/tippy], is a tribute to the city of Havana. Brand selected to commemorate the city’s 500th Anniversary, in 2019.

The Virtual Global Launch of this San Cristóbal de La Habana Harimau Malaya was hosted on April 8th, 2021, via Zoom. The main launching event started 7:30pm, and more than 30 guests around the world were invited to participant to discover this new Habano together.

To start the event, we had Mr Jonathan Chow, CEO of Cohiba Atmosphere for the opening speech in Cohiba Atmosphere in Malaysia, followed by Mr Dag Holmboe, CEO of The Pacific Cigar Company Limited to introduce the details of this San Cristóbal Habano. We were also honored to have the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Florentino Batista González.

The event was regional and international, livestreamed in the [tippy title="La Casa del Habano"]La Casa del Habano is the name of a network of retail cigar stores franchised by Habanos s.a. There are over 140 La Casa del Habano stores throughout the world on five continents. A full list can be found on the franchise's global website at www.lacasadelhabano.com[/tippy] in Macau and Cohiba Atmosphere in Malaysia at the same time on Zoom where cigar aficionados witnessed the unveiling of the Harimau Malaya.

Harimau Malaya, the first Malaysia Edition Cigar, is a vitola selected by [tippy title="Habanos S.A., Corporación"]The Havana-based company, jointly owned by the Cuban industry and the British Imperial Tobacco Group, which markets all 27 Habanos brands worldwide.[/tippy] in 2020 for Habanos aficionados in Malaysia. The name “Harimau Malaya” was selected as it represents the national mascot of Malaysia.

Presented in box of 10 sticks, this San Cristobal de La Habana Harimau Malaya (55 ring gauge x 130mm length). These Habanos are produced “[tippy title="Totalmente a mano"]Totally by hand. A description created in Havana to differentiate between Cuban methods of making cigars by hand from the semi-mechanised metods used elsewhere that can legally be described as "Hecho a Mano" or "Hand Made".[/tippy] con [tippy title="Tripa Larga"]Long filler. Filler that is made from full-length tobacco leaves.[/tippy]”- Totally handmade with long filler, using exclusively selected leaves from the [tippy title="Vuelta Abajo"]The finest tobacco-growing land in the world, Vuelta Abajo is the main source of tobacco for Habanos, and the only zone that grows all types of leaf: wrappers, fillers and binders. Limited to only 8,888 boxes, this 2020 Regional Edition Habanos are now available to cigar aficionados in Malaysia and, of course, in Asia Pacific.
