On September 1, an exclusive Habanos Day was celebrated in San José, Costa Rica. This event was used to launch the new Ramón Allones Nuevo Mundo, exclusive regional edition for Costa Rica and Nicaragua, for the fans and the media.

Over 100 people attended the party, invited by Cruz Canela & Trust GB S.A., exclusive distributor of [tippy title="Habanos S.A., Corporación"]The Havana-based company, jointly owned by the Cuban industry and the British Imperial Tobacco Group, which markets all 27 Habanos brands worldwide.[/tippy][tippy title="La Casa del Habano"]La Casa del Habano is the name of a network of retail cigar stores franchised by Habanos s.a. There are over 140 La Casa del Habano stores throughout the world on five continents. This launch was held at the Sheraton Hotel & Grand Casino at Escazú. In addition to the launch, different activities were carried out, such as pairings with Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum and Jura Whiskey. Attendees were also able to walk around and taste products at various sponsors’ stands of such as teas, Costa Rican coffees, craft beers or Chilean wines. In addition, they tasted over sixteen different tapas created especially for the occasion combining Mediterranean and Cuban flavors, as well as variations of other dishes typical of Central American cuisine.

The event was attended by amateurs and people who approached the [tippy title="Habanos"]The official Denominación de Origen Protegida (D.O.P.), or Protected Denomination of Origin used only to describe the most outstanding brands of cigars, which are manufactured in Cuba to the most exacting standards established by the Regulatory Council, from tobaccos grown only in particular areas of the island that are also protected as Denominations of Origin. In English the word translates as Havanas, which are widely considered to be the best cigars in the world.[/tippy] culture for the first time, as well as people from the Diplomatic Corps of various countries, including the Ambassador of Cuba in Costa Rica, D. Danilo Sánchez, who also addressed the public, as well as government politicians, the Municipality of San José, journalists and graphic media.

During the celebration, they were able to taste Habanos from other prestigious trademarks like Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos, H. Upmann Half Corona, Punch Petit Coronations, Romeo y Julieta nº 3, Montecristo Tubos and Partagás Serie D nº 4, ending at the peak of the night with the tasting of the Ramón Allones Nuevo Mundo, with the brand’s characteristic strong flavor.

The party had live musical saxophone or Cuban son music performances. The event was hosted by the renowned Costa Rican presenter, Mr. Carlos Álvarez, Locutor and Director of Teletica Radio and host during his long career in varios shows on national costarican televisión.

A week before Habanos Day, a one-hour television program was scheduled to explain to Costa Ricans about the Habano culture and what Habanos Day and the launch of Ramón Allones de Nuevo Mundo for Costa Rican territory would mean.
